The records Jello has been cutting with his new band the Guantanamo School of Medicine are probably the best since his days as the lead agitator of seminal band Dead Kennedys. A mix of trashy surf-a-billy, spy movie themes on steroids and punk-rock barre chords, the new material stands proudly alongside old classics like California Ãœber Alles, Holiday In Cambodia and Police Truck.
His sense of humour is also as sharp as ever. The concert sees him entering the stage dressed as a demented ringmaster, in the pure rock and roll vaudeville tradition of Alice Cooper. The stories in his lyrics are brought to life by a a voice at its bilious, snarling best and maniacal pantomimes that see him acting out several roles at once.
An absolutely ferocious set from a punk rock veteran. Take note, kids. This is how it's done.
