In 2016, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Roger Waters all took part in the Desert Trip festival in Indio, California, the site of the Coachella festival, which prompted commenters to nickname it Oldchella.
Seven years later, AEG Worldwidel is supposedly bringing the festival back for the fall of 2023. Rebranded Power Trip, it is rumored to feature at least three heavyweights of Heavy Metal music: AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne, who has come out of retirement more times than Frank Sinatra. Among other acts poised to appear is Progressive Metal legends Tool.
If the rumors turn out to be true (and they will...) then this is going to be pretty epic, as those three acts are the biggest concert draws in Metal. AC/DC , Metallica and Guns N' Roses, of course, being an absolute juggernauts, capable of commanding multiple nights in stadiums by themselves. More importantly, it would mark AC/DC's return to the live stage, seven years after the conclusion of the Rock Or Bust tour and nearly three years after the release of Power Up.
All four bands have posted a video teaser on their socials, essentially confirming the rumors. You can see AC/DC's Instagram post below. Another rumor circulating is that Guns N' Roses will also be joining the concert... The rumored schedule is tentatively the following:
October 6: Guns N' Rose - Iron Maiden
October 7 - AC/DC - Ozzy Osbourne
October 8 - Metallica - Tool
The historic event is rumored to take place October 6, 7 and 8 at the Empire Polo Club in Indo, CA. Full line-up and details are expected on March 30th at 7 am with tickets going on sale next week.
