Charlie Watts Anthology to be released tomorrow. Pre-save it here.

It's been nearly two years since beloved drummer Charlie Watts passed away and while he'll always be remembered for being the backbone of the world's greatest Rock n' Roll band (no, not Nickelback) Watts was also an accomplished jazz drummer.

Sony BMG is releasing a compilation of some of his best recordings in that genre and it'll be available tomorrow Friday, June 30th, 2023. You can pre-save the album in your Apple Music library or stream it when it becomes available in the embedded player below.

This retrospective includes tracks from "Live At Fulham Town Hall" by the Charlie Watts Orchestra as well as his tributes to Charlie Parker: "From One Charlie" and "A Tribute To Charlie Parker With Strings", both by the Charlie Watts Quintet , "Warm and Tender" by the same outfit, and his one solo album "Long Ago and Far Away". There are also selections from the Charlie Watts/Jim Keltner Project and some numbers from Charlie Watts Tentet live record "Watts at Scott's". Of note for the fans, three rare tracks from the 1978 Swindon Arts Centre concert are also included. You can listen to one of these tracks, Ain't Nobody Minding Your Store, in the embedded player below.

Back in September 2021, we published a comprehensive playlist of the man's career, including of course some of The Rolling Stones numbers where his drumming is more prominently featured, as well as some tracks from his jazz career. You can listen to it by clicking HERE.
