The Commoners made their Paris debut last night, opening for The Sheepdogs at Badaboum, and they didn’t waste a second proving they belonged on that stage. The Toronto quartet channels a gritty '70s vibe, blending Aerosmith swagger with Blackfoot’s Southern grit—a sound that felt ripped straight from the Almost Famous universe.
Leaning heavily on their new album Restless, with a couple of cuts from Find A Better Way thrown in, they delivered a set brimming with muscular riffs, soaring vocals, and the kind of tight, propulsive grooves that get under your skin. The rhythm section hit hard, the soulful keys added depth, and the vocals carried a raw power that grabbed hold of the crowd and didn’t let go.
By the time they wrapped up, the room was electric, primed and ready for the headliners. The Commoners didn’t just warm things up; they lit the fuse, setting the tone for a night of tasty rock ‘n’ roll. An excellent appetizer for what was to come, and a name worth watching.
