Here's the sixth installment in our ongoing series This Film Should Be Played Loud!, in which we recommend five great concert films. As you may know, the name is taken from the opening title at the beginning of Martin Scorsese's movie The Last Waltz.
Full disclosure: if you buy the movies featured here through one of the links we provide, we get a (very) small commission. So treat yo'selves!

Probably one of the greatest documents for soul music fans, this movie features the biggest stars of the Stax/Volt stables (Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd...) backed by the the bouse band the Mar-Keys (Steve Cropper, Donald Dunn...) and playing their biggest hits. So much talent in one place at one time is almost unfathomable... The musicianship and energy on display here are absolutely off the chart.
The last concert by 60's supergroup Cream (until a short-lived 2005 reunion in the same venue) has something for everyone. Whether you're into Blues, Hard Rock, Pop, guitar, bass, drums, jamming and even Jazz, there should be something in there for you to chew on. The music made by Baker, Bruce and Clapton continues to inspire and influence bands the world over, in many different genres. Essential viewing.
The Reality tour turned out to be Bowie's last run of concert performances. He famously suffered a heart attack at one of the German dates, and was never seen on a stage again for a full concert after that. This makes this concert movie all the more special. Bowie is in his fifties but still looks and sounds like a young man. Backed by a fantastic band including hotshot guitarist Earl Slick, the man goes through staples of his repertoire, a few deep cuts and recent numbers, making this a great overview of his illustrious career.
Tedeschi Trucks Band - Live at Fillmore Auditorium 2011
The Tedeschi Trucks band is one of the greatest bands working today, and Derek Trucks is one of the greatest rock guitarists of the past quarter century. Everyone of their concert is its own event, different from the previous and from the next. It's a communion in music, a celebration of all things beautiful and positive. The best that American music has to offer is on display here: Soul, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, Folk... Dive in!
