The Musical Box to recreate iconic Genesis concert at the Bataclan

The Musical Box is widely regarded as the premier Genesis tribute band, and stands alongside acts like The Dark Star Orchestra, Queen Extravaganza, The Dire Straits Experience, and The Australian Pink Floyd as one of the best tribute bands on the circuit. For years, they've been delivering a meticulous recreation of the Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, faithfully replicating the band’s sound, costumes, and production. Known for their note-perfect renditions, The Musical Box has even earned the distinction of being officially sanctioned by Genesis members. In fact, they’ve had the privilege of welcoming legendary Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett to perform with them on select dates.

On January 10th, 1973, Genesis played an unforgettable show at the renowned Bataclan in Paris in support of their then-current record Foxtrot. This concert marked the debut of some of Peter Gabriel's now-iconic stage costumes, including the fox and the flower, which have since become engrained in the collective unconscious of Prog Rock fans the world over. The performance was partially broadcast on French television, and the bootlegs quickly became treasured collector’s items. Thanks to modern technology, the remastered version of this historic concert is just a click away—available for viewing in the YouTube player below.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this legendary performance (or 52nd, but who’s counting?), The Musical Box will recreate Genesis' Bataclan concert on March 23rd, 2025, in the same legendary venue. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind event which will appeal to fans of Genesis, Prog and music in general: get your tickets by clicking HERE!

Peter Gabriel:
"The Musical Box recreated, very accurately I must say, what Genesis was doing. I saw them in Bristol with my children so they could see what their father did back then."

Phil Collins:
"They're not just a tribute band. They have taken a period of Genesis' history and are faithfully reproducing it, much like a theatrical production."
