In a surprising development, Guns N’ Roses have parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Ferrer, marking the end of an 19-year tenure behind the kit. Ferrer originally joined the band in 2006 as a replacement for Bryan "Brain" Mantia, who had previously worked with Primus and Praxis.
While Guns N’ Roses are currently on a break, the band is set to resume touring in May, with a high-profile appearance at Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell event on July 5. This leaves an open question: Who will step in to fill Ferrer’s spot when the band returns to the stage? Speculation is already running wild, though fans hoping for a reunion with original drummer Steven Adler may want to temper their expectations.
Could GN’R tap a seasoned veteran like Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction—especially in light of that band’s recent turmoil? Or will Slash’s phone be ringing with offers from unexpected candidates? The prospect of a new drummer also raises another long-shot question: Could this shake-up signal the start of new studio material? History suggests otherwise, but with Guns N’ Roses, anything is possible.
The band has yet to comment in detail, but you can check out the official announcement on their Facebook page below.
